Through an employees eyes
On the morning of September 11, 2001, I was on my way to work at the corporate offices of American Airlines in Fort Worth, TX. I heard on the radio that an AA (flight 11) plane had crashed into the North tower of the WTC in New York. Something in me told me to go back and stop at my mother's home to watch the news. I was in my mothers home when the second plane (UA flight 75) crashed into the South tower of the WTC. By this time, I knew something was terribly wrong. I called my work and was told to stay home as security was tight at AA's corporate offices. I stayed at my mother's home the rest of the day, feeling sad and terrified of what was to come. I knew that my AA family would be overcome with grief as well as all of America that lost a loved one on that day. I had visited NYC in August 1998 and stayed at the Marriott Hotel between the two towers..my mind kept reliving those memories on that day... and then realizing that the beautiful hotel and enormous towers were no longer there. I cannot believe it has been 10 years since the American Airlines family and the United States of America lost many of their own that terrible day. I pray that God continues to comfort the hearts of all of us that were affected by a senseless act of terror on September, 11, 2001.
